Financial Planning

Our Services

Sound financial advice can help you make informed decisions about your money. Financial planning is the process of meeting your life goals through the proper management of your finances. Your life goals could include buying a home, saving for your children's education, managing debt or planning for retirement.

FuturePlus planners are qualified to provide a wide range of financial advisory and implementation services. We emphasise a strategy-based approach to our recommendations that ensure our advice is based on merit and is not product or sales-related.

Financial Planning

Superannuation

Superannuation plays a key role in fulfilling your retirement dreams but we understand that it can be confusing to our members. Legislation is always changing and there are a lot of technical terms used.

Our financial planners can assist you to understand your superannuation by explaining key issues such as fees, benefit points (if applicable), contribution levels and taxation, in simple, easy to understand terms. We will help you put in place a plan that will maximise your benefits and assist you to be financially prepared for an enjoyable retirement.

Retirement

If you are planning for retirement or are already retired but wanting to improve your current financial situation, you may need assistance in preparing a financial plan tailored to your individual needs.

It is important to recognise that we are now living longer and this means that your retirement period may generally last between sixteen and thirty years. We can discuss the options available to you to help you make the most of your retirement payments. We are also able to assist with securing income, minimising tax and identifying if you qualify for social security benefits (if appropriate).

With proper planning, you can increase the likelihood of having sufficient savings to provide for your daily living expenses plus special expenditure items such as a holiday or boat.

Redundancy

Accepting a redundancy can be traumatic but with professional advice, your redundancy package can help secure your financial future. We are able to explain the tax implications of the payments that you will receive and determine the most appropriate application for them.

Wealth Creation

We are able to discuss your future goals and tailor a plan to help you reach them. Our aim is to provide tax-effective solutions that are matched to your tolerance to risk.

Wealth building options may include:

  • paying off your mortgage early to save on repayment interest
  • investing in a diversified investment portfolio with portions in Australian and international shares, fixed interest and listed property trusts which may provide you with healthy returns
  • investing in superannuation, which is generally the most tax-effective investment strategy for retirement savings, with a maximum of 15% tax on superannuation earnings
  • gearing, which involves borrowing money to invest in growth assets such as shares and property

Social Security

We are able to discuss the types of social security benefits that you may be entitled to and ways to optimise these payments.

Taxation

Whilst we do not provide direct taxation advice, we are able to highlight the taxation issues which must be considered to minimise the incidence of tax. By re-structuring your investments, you may be eligible to receive tax benefits that you were previously denied.

Estate Planning

At FuturePlus, we believe that Estate planning is a key component within the financial planning process and involves more than a well-drafted Will. Whilst the area focuses on what happens after death, effective planning should start well before this occurs.

Our planners can provide assistance with developing a tax-effective estate plan to ensure that your family is adequately provided for.

Insurance

Most people will insure their house, personal effects and health but neglect to insure their lives and (most often the most valuable asset) their ability to earn an income. Ask yourself what would happen if you became disabled, passed away or found you were incapable of working for an extended period?

Would you (or your family) have enough money to pay for:

  • Funeral costs
  • Debts you owe like credit card bills, car payments or the mortgage on your home
  • Your children's education
  • Retirement

We are able to explain what insurances are available and how they protect your circumstances. We can also provide guidance as to an appropriate level of insurance cover that will provide your family with financial support and ensure your beneficiaries are well looked after.
